Steve Cropper may be one of soul's finest guitarists, co-writing with Otis Redding such memorable classics as (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay as a member of the Stax label's house band, or playing slinky instrumentals with Booker T and the MGs.
It is for his role in the The Blues Brothers movie, however, that most people remember him best.
But has being known as the guy who goofed around on screen with actors Elwood (Dan Ackroyd) and Jake (John Belushi), rather than as a world-class musician, had its drawbacks?
"Initially there was a lot of scepticism - people thought these comedians were making fun of the music - but that wasn't true at all," Cropper says. "They managed to pull it off."
That the film has reached cult status, and the soundtrack sold 4.5 million copies, still amazes Cropper.
